What actually happened

The building was caught in the five-day Battle of Semarang in October 1945, a real conflict between Indonesian forces and the Japanese military.

The history

The Dutch East Indies railway company built this Semarang landmark in the early 20th century. It later became a museum of Indonesian railway history.

What people report

Its long corridors and wartime associations gave the building a lasting haunted reputation, even after restoration returned it to public use.

That paragraph is reported tradition, not a claim about what is there. The history above it is sourced; the stories are recorded because people tell them.
