Short stories with a twist ending
A twist is not a last line that trails off. It is the moment the story you have been reading turns over and means something else: the helper was the hazard, the rule protected the wrong person, the count was one out the whole time. Every story on Flinchd is built to do that, and the house rules require it.
It also has to be fair. The reversal is planted at least three times before it lands, so on a second read the ending looks inevitable rather than clever. Nothing is withheld from you that the character already knew.

Do all of your stories have a twist?
Yes, by rule. Our writing guide makes a genuine reversal mandatory and the review checks that it is planted at least three times, that it lands before the final line, and that it costs the character something.
Will I see it coming?
You are meant to be able to, one beat before the character does, and not a page earlier. A twist that arrives from nowhere is a cheat; a twist you can find on a second read is the craft.
How long are they?
Six to nine minutes, which is about the length of a bus ride.
