Cookies and advertising

This notice explains the cookies and advertising used on Flinchd (https://flinchd.com), published by Augeas Technologies.
1. Cookies set by Flinchd
None. Flinchd does not set any cookies of its own. A handful of preferences (text size, finished stories, age confirmation, your cookie choice) are kept in your browser's local storage, which stays on your device and is never sent to us. See the Privacy Policy.
2. Advertising on the Site
Flinchd is free to read. To pay for it, story pages may display a small advertisement card at the foot of the screen for about five seconds when the story opens. It can then be closed, closes itself shortly after, never covers the text, and is shown at most once per story per visit.
3. Third-party advertising cookies
When third-party advertising is switched on, our advertising partner may set cookies to serve, measure and, if you allow it, personalise advertisements:
- Partner: Google AdSense, operated by Google LLC.
- When: only after you choose "Allow ad cookies" in the notice shown on your first visit.
- If you decline: no third-party script is loaded and no third-party cookie is set. You may see a plain house notice instead, which uses no tracking.
- Change your mind: clear the site data for Flinchd in your browser and the choice will be asked again.
Google describes its advertising cookies at policies.google.com/technologies/ads. You can control personalised advertising at adssettings.google.com, and opt out of many advertising networks at youronlinechoices.eu or optout.aboutads.info.
4. What we will not do
We will not sell your data to advertisers or anyone else. We will not share the fact that you read a particular story with any third party. We will not show more than one small advertisement per story per visit, and never a full-screen one. We will not use dark patterns to make you accept cookies.

Businesses who want to advertise on Flinchd directly, without an ad network, can email info@augeastechnologies.com with the subject line "Advertising".
