What actually happened
On 4 August 1892 Andrew and Abby Borden were killed with a hatchet inside the house in broad daylight, with no passer-by hearing a sound.
The history
Andrew Borden bought the two-tenant house on Second Street in 1872 and remodelled it for his family. His daughter Lizzie stood trial for the murders in what the press called the trial of the century.
